AVADO™ ZERO RADIUS SINK COLLECTION

Elkay, America’s number one selling stainless steel sink company, will unveil its Avado™ collection of undermount kitchen sinks at the 2005 Kitchen/Bath Industry Show (K/BIS).

The new collection features striking square and rectangular bowl geometry with dramatic
90-degree or ”zero-radius” corners for deeper, more efficient bowls.

The Elkay Avado collection consists of nine undermount sink models that include single-, double- and triple-bowl designs. One model incorporates a beveled drainboard that may be positioned on the left- or right-hand side of the main bowl.

Hand-fabricated from heavy-duty 16-gauge stainless steel, the Avado sink collection boasts a gleaming satin finish that highlights the dramatic bowl geometry. The collection features a fully coated underside to dampen sound and prevent condensation.

IMAGINATIVE SINKS FROM ELKAY ADD WHIMSY TO CHILDREN’S BATH

Elkay’s new Scrub-a-Dubs™ sink collection puts a playful twist on time spent washing hands, brushing teeth – even filling up the goldfish bowl.

The Scrub-a-Dubs lavatory collection is available in six imaginative designs that include whimsical shapes such as tulips, fish, butterflies and hearts. An optional coordinating faucet – Elkay’s Ferrara™ LK7625 – includes three colored handle options with the faucet (translucent blue, chrome and speckled) to match the sink selection.

The Scrub-a-Dubs collection is fabricated from durable, solid-surface composite material that cleans easily, won’t crack or dent, and is exceptionally resistant to chips, scratches and stains.

Some Scrub-a-Dubs models are pre-drilled for single-hole faucets while others can accommodate either widespread or single-control faucet designs. The Scrub-a-Dubs sinks will retail for around $250.

Available in June 2005, the Scrub-a-Dubs collection is offered in a variety of vivid colors, depending on design, including blue, red, pink, brown, purple, yellow and white.

Bathrooms tailored to the younger set are growing in popularity. The National Kitchen & Bath Association found that youth-friendly baths are a top request among its interior design members.

EKLAY LAVATORIES, COUNTERTOPS ADD UNIQUE FLAIR

What began as a sliver of the market for only the highest-end kitchens more than two decades ago has today become a mainstay of kitchen and bathroom design, according to LouAnn Sago, a kitchen and bath consultant for Elkay.

Stainless steel remains the most common new kitchen sink material in both new home construction and residential remodeling projects, said Sago.

“In fact, National Kitchen & Bath Association research shows that in 2002, 63% of the entire residential market selected stainless steel kitchen sinks.” Sago also notes, that with proper care and cleaning, stainless steel will still look as smart in 15 years as its does today.


STAINLESS STEEL AT HOME IN THE BATHROOM
Sago states that designers are increasingly extending the sleek elegance of stainless steel sinks beyond the kitchen into master bathrooms and powder rooms.

“As we’ve seen in showroom-quality residential kitchens, powder rooms have become points of distinction in the home,” says Sago. “Homeowners see bathrooms as a reflection of their unique tastes and personalities, and that’s why we see such a strong market for Elkay’s unique line of stainless steel drop-in lavatory sinks.”

NEW CONCEPT SINK TAKES CUES FROM NATURE’S WATERFALL

The relaxing rhythm of cascading water is highlighted in a futuristic sink from Elkay that will be displayed at the 2005 Kitchen/Bath Industry Show (K/BIS).

Novel and daring, this concept sink broadens the boundaries of bathroom design with the relaxing rhythm of cascading water. The undermount stainless steel lavatory sink features three descending ‘steps’ that water must cascade down before flowing into the hidden drain.

The trapezoidal shaped sink – perfect for a master bathroom, modern powder room or entertainment area – measures 21-7/8-inches wide (front) by 9-1/2-inches deep by 13-3/8-inches wide (rear).

ELKAY RESIDENTIAL FAUCET TRENDS

In the mind of discriminating homeowners, you are judged by the equipment you keep. From commercial-look appliances to stone countertops, today’s kitchen is subject to a level of design scrutiny formerly reserved for more formal areas of the home.

As a station in the work triangle, the sink area, and particularly the faucet, is commanding attention. And, as the water appliance that rises above it all, faucets have moved from “also ran” to “front and center” status. Fortunately, the choices in faucets have never been more plentiful.

DESIGN INSPIRATION
Geometric inspiration is particularly evident. Angles, arcs and parallel lines constitute the crisp, contemporary collections. According to Elkay kitchen and bath design consultant Lori Mrozinski, this minimalist profile exemplifies contemporary design.

“Anything ‘fussy’ is out,” Mrozinski says. “Clean and simple is the preferred look today.” Simple doesn’t mean small. In fact, faucets are more substantial than ever.

“Taller faucets not only create drama in the kitchen but expand their functional applications,” says Mrozinski. “A faucet’s height draws attention to the sink area and provides extra visual weight to help balance bulky appliances.”

In addition to their commanding profile, faucets with a reach of 8 to 12 inches or more are ideally suited to watering plants and filling tall vases. Some even can extend to fill pots on a nearby stove.

FINISH LINE
According to Mrozinski, Elkay faucet finishes are inspired by trends in appliances, sinks and hardware. Softer, muted finishes – such as brushed nickel, stainless steel – and organic looks – such oil-rubbed bronze and antique bronze – are popular.

1) 3/8” Hex Key

All add-on faucets are now shipping with 3/8” hex keys (Allen wrenches). [Ref. 014964-45]

These hex keys facilitate the removal of EasyInstall riser bushings during add-on faucet installations.

Detailed, easy-to-follow retrofit installation instructions are also included in every add-on faucet package.

2) CR Models

In response to a growing number of requests for Pre Rinse units equipped with ceramic cartridges, 6 new

EasyInstall models were created this month. They are:

Cerama are unique in that they are the only ceramic cartridges in the world with integral backflow

preventers.

The T&S Cerama with integral check valve carries patents in several countries, including the US and

Canada. These patents provides T&S with the exclusive right to manufacture and sell shear cartridges

(ceramic cartridges) with an integral backflow preventer. The backflow preventer used is certified to

A112.18.3 – the U.S. standard for backflow preventers for these types of applications. This standard has

recently been adopted into the major plumbing codes in the U.S. (i.e. the Uniform Plumbing Code and the

International Plumbing Code, among others).

In addition, existing T&S models equipped with Cerama cartridges carry the same certifications for NSF

61/9, A112.18.1M, and CSA B125 as their Eterna (compression cartridge) equipped counterparts. Models

New SHC Mini-Tank Water Heater
NOW AVAILABLE!

Our new Stiebel Eltron SHC 4 point-of-use tank type water heater will be ready to ship from our warehouse on April 05.  This unit has a small storage tank with 4 GAL (15L) capacity. The SHC 4 has a welded steel tank with glass lining and a sacrificial anode rod. The housing is very attractively designed and is white plastic which will not rust.

The unit has a 110-120V 1200W heating element and a cord that can be plugged into any regular AC outlet. No 208/240V or hardwiring is necessary.

The SHC 4 will be shipped with a P&T valve. The pricing and warranty will be competitive with other units on the market. This is a high quality product with a very good life expectancy.
